When you go out to camp it is important to make sure that you have enough food for the whole duration of the trip. It is easy to determine the quantity of the food you will be bringing but I think the general rule for me is that it is better to have more than less of what you can give. But the great question with regard to the food you bring comes in when you want to determine what type of food you should be bringing? And what food needs to be stored on your coleman camping gear coolers and what not?
Hot and cold food can be brought to your camping trip. But bringing hot food will be difficult to do because eventually they will turn cold if you do not have constant supply of heat. But I feel it is more practical to bring pre-cooked meals and have them heated when you want them to be eaten. You can store these pre-cooked meals on your portable coolers that way you can keep them fresh until you want them cooked.
If you want to bring meat or poultry in your camping trip, you can do so. But you have to have enough cold sources when you want to keep them fresh until they are ready to cook. Any meat or poultry can easily perish without enough ice on them and if you do not maintain such temperature, it is a good source for bacterial proliferation. It is also smart to keep stainless
steel cooler with you because they allow you to store ice for days. But make sure you have enough ice to maintain the coldness.
It is also good to bring food that does not need chilling. Say perhaps, bring sandwiches, canned goods and instant noodles. They are easy to handle and they have long shelf life. I like sandwiches because they can be easily placed on foils or bags and they can be individually packed too. Canned goods are good source of meat for a camping trip and you do not have to worry of storing them on ice to maintain freshness. So it could be more practical and convenient than choosing those foods that you need to strictly follow storage requirements. This will also be an advantage because you can keep your camping coolersexclusively for you drinks so that more and more of it can be brought on your camping trip.
Definitely you can bring all types of food on your camping trip but you have to consider proper storage for it. Camping trips are supposed to be stress free so do not bring food that requires to much attention and effort in storage. This is not like at home that it is easy to cook gourmet food because the equipment for cooking is readily available. Choose food that could give you enough energy to sustain your camping activities. Pack foods that do not perish easily. And remember to store your food on your coleman
coolers in a proper order. This way those packed foods that will easily perish (if ever you brought one) will be placed on the top so that they will be consumed first: following last in first out method.
